on the Hampshire Chalklands

Between 1989 and 2006 Barry Cunliffe has been looking at Danebury Hill Fort and its environs. The last phase investigated rural Roman sites at Grateley, Fullerton, Thruxton and Abbotts Ann, all with Iron Age antecedents. The results have recently been published and were the subject of Professor Cunliffe’s lecture.
