2013 Excavation  -  Henry of Blois’s Hospital, St. Cross

Webmaster’s Week 2 Diary here

Week 1 here

This year we were back at St Cross digging on the Bowling Green for what turned out be the original buildings from Henry of Blois’s original foundations. We were fitting around repair works at the Hospital, which is why our dig was later this year.

We completed some geophysics with thanks to member Dave Ashby and the loan of equipment from Winchester University. See the results here.

The site was open to the public on Sunday 1st of September with volunteers giving guided tours, and there were evening visits by local societies on 29th August, and 2nd, 3rd and 5th September.
